Stain / Dye for Woofer Cones?

I'm going to tidy-up the cones on my Tannoys and can't decide weather to clean and colour them with something.

I'm thinking either a plain old Indian Ink or a black leather dye.

Has anyone done this before?

Would just use a mild detergent & sponge. Not too wet, just damp. Be dry in 2 mins.
Wouldn't dye or stain.

Clean as per Garn's suggestion above or if you need to colour use shoe polish.
