Temple Church in London has a festival of 'winter ' (ie, Christmas) choral music this week, and each of the concerts is being broadcast live on Radio 3. I went to last night's concert by Vox Luminis, a Belgian choral group that specialises in early German baroque repertoire, which they performed last night. Pieces by composers such as Schutz, Scheidt, J. Michael Bach, Praetorius, etc were sung.
Do have a listen on the iPlayer if this is your type of thing. The music is exquisite and the sound Vox Luminis make is one of the best I've heard from a choral group (they have support from some period string and wind instruments and a chamber organ to add 'richness' to the timbre). On top of that, the acoustic of Temple church is, quite frankly, astonishing. It has warmth, clarity and reverb that is perfect for the repertoire.
If this type of music is your thing, miss this at your peril.
