And what about Apocalypse Now, which do we prefer: original cinema release or "redux"?

I'll take the latter.

Good thread K

"Tour of Duty" now that's going back. Remember watching it late night on ITV, great stuff.

Apocalypse Now is shite actually, totally spoilt by Brando. Not too bad up to when he appears on screen.

FMJ is my favourite.

A great scene, especially the haunting music that accompanies it

My two favorite films from that genre are The Deer Hunter and The Killing Fields

Yeah, I'll go for The Deer Hunter. Christopher Walken is always worth a watch.

Tour Of Duty was good too! I remember them being holed-up in some trenches and running out of ammo. The VC were shouting "You're gonna die GI"

Unable to get any air strikes they made some detonators and went underground, waited for the gooks to storm the trench...then blew the fookers up. Probably my fave episode.

Apocalypse Now - "every minute I stay in this room, I get weaker, and every minute Charlie squats in the bush, he gets stronger..."

Platoon - "Somebody once wrote: "Hell is the impossibility of reason." That's what this place feels like. Hell. "

Deer Hunter - "MAU! MAU! DIDI MAU!"
