Volume control

just got me new amp this morning.... Teac A-BX7R

sounds great, but normal listening levels ar achived by a small turn of the volume knob, from infinity to 60 (-dB's) and 45/50 i nicely loud, is there anything apart from Attenuated Interconnects that will allow me to turn the knob further round to get more juice out of the amp?

(nice touch on the amp, the on/standby and input knobs have a really satisfying click to them

(on the sound, seems to have a wider sound stage than the primare and so far, sounds more dynamic at lower volumes and more bass slam, although still not that much in open baffle, sounds crisper.. if that makes sense lol)

use an ipod as source .. lower output level

Use an inline attenuator - jolly sight cheaper than aniPod, less efficient speakers, "attenuated interconnects" (whatever that means)

amps just somehow gone weird, using the 'CD' input, it has now gone all strange, vocals are really quiet, there is a hum aswell, but using the 'AUX' input is fine

did that just after i plugged the cd player into 'AUX' for the first time, then changed it back to 'CD' and it went weird.....

the 'CD' input does not buzz when there is nothing plugged into it.... only when i has a signal....

Not sure mate to be honest, it was in 100% working condition when it left. If it has been thrown around (you mentioned some damage) then I guess it could of disturbed something internally I suppose, sorry its not turned out very well

Have you checked all the connections - no loose plugs, shorts, etc.?

Also try powering down, leave a few minutes and power back up again?

no, it was fine until i decided to plug the cdp into the aux input (made sure the amp was off) then put them back and the hummmmm lol.

dont ask me why i decided to plug them into the aux, i like to fiddle (with me electronics)

at the moment i have the cdp plugged into the aux input and its fine.... lol....so nothing to do with the cables etc....

just turned everything off, unplugged everything. put it all back in (in the cd input) and now there is no buzz but a low frequency signal going through the speakers and no bass

Has it gone "funny" on one channel or both channels? Sounds to me like you have knackered either one of the plugs or sockets. Another favourite is cracking the PCB inside that couples all the RCA sockets together - had a couple of instances where the socket was pushed clean through the PCB behind the back panel:shock:

Well then stick it into the AUX holes if it's working

Some iinput levels as CDso it's only the label that's different

, just wondered what i have done to it as it was working when it arrived this morning...

the 'cd' rca connectors are located in the right place aswell btw (not pushed in lol)

Favourite is usually the PCB that the RCA sockets are mounted on. After that there is onlythe input selectorswitch (maybe relays too)between the CD and AUX input

ok, i think i might have located the problem, on the back of the rca socket, it has a plastic sort of bracket, on the 3 that i can see (inc the cd input one) *i am looking through the vents lol) there is a small bit missing on the cd input (plastic bit) but i cant see it anywhere inside and it doesnt rattle lol.....

disregard that, finally opened it up, they are supposed to be like that lol

ok, the tuner input doesnt work at all and the input selector doesnt even click when selecting the tuner input so my educated guess is that its that

although just had another look inside, and when it is off (obviously) the actual knob pot works fine, just when its on, it 'mis fires'....
