Been missing having a copy of this for a while, it is a favourite of mine of all Alice's albums since when I first heard it '72, one of his more out there albums, if there is such a thing. Took a chance as some reported varied pressing quality, but this copy is superb. An exceptionally good re-release of a classic.

The 2023 edition of this. I like a bit of volume with this album but when Gilmour's slide geetar came in I had to quickly turn it down. One high note was so piercing it was just wrong. WTF have they done? Is this a digital copy on a record?

It seems I'm not the only one. From Discogs reviews:

'I have too many copies of this album, including a 5th UK pressing, original MoFi, and the 2003 30th Anniversary remaster. I'm only through the first side of the album so far, but my very initial impression is that this is a very bright cut. The stereo soundstage is wonderful, lots of depth and aura. I was wincing a bit at the sharpness of the guitar on Breathe and Time. The Great Gig in the Sky does sound amazing though.'

'I'm spinning my 30th right now after finishing side 2 of the 50th, and to my ears and on my system, the 30th is what I strongly prefer. It just feels like they killed the bass on the 50th and jacked up the treble in the pursuit of more clarity and soundstage. I feel like maybe it has a hint more depth than the 30th, but it's not worth the tradeoff in my opinion. The 30th is just a perfect wall of sound that makes me want to turn the volume up. The 50th had me turning the volume down.'
