After realising that there are two types of slow blow fuse, much swearing, and trips to electrical retailers, the second of my two impulse purchases that arrived this weekend are working.

Completely flawed by the dac and the amps, single ended triode dac and class A set triode amps into Magnepans.

Hair raisingly good sounds.

It's going to be long night.

Opinions!

Thinking about getting rid of the bookshelf in my living room and putting the right speaker a bit closer to where it was.

Don't know if they'll be too far apart then, and was thinking about putting a record shelve in-between if possible.

I could try it but it's a lot of effort. The right speaker has always been a bit bass light due to the opening on the right PXL_20220502_110206442.jpg

Yep, saw the long sides of the bookcase up to make shelves in the alcove above the tt for books/records. You could also put an undershelf light in to serve the tt.

If it was my room, I’d loose the TV, centralise the system and reduce the speaker toe in but that’s me, I’m not a tv person but it would definitely improve the sound.
Ignore me mate, it’s just me.

Yeah, limited room unfortunately
Always the compromise isn’t it.
I don’t think the bookcase is an issue imo. Maybe the toe in? I played so much doing that and my speakers have no toe in now. Depends on room methinks.

Sometimes it's good to uninstall and move everything, dust-clean-decorate then you'll be much happier with everything.

Qobuz -> M1 MacBook Air

M1 MacBook Air 3.5mm output -> Miscellaneous 3.5mm to RCA cable

Miscellaneous 3.5mm to RCA cable -> Topping pre90

Topping pre90 -> Miscellaneous RCA pair

Miscellaneous RCA pair -> Miscellaneous Yamaha integrated AMP (output fixed to maximum so the pre is doing the attenuation) (Pre modern era but post golden era amp)

Miscellaneous Yamaha integrated AMP -> TQ Ultra Blue II Speaker Cable

TQ Ultra Blue II Speaker Cable -> Sonus Faber Concertino Home (on top of some Partington Dreadnought Broadsides)

No rack yet my pre and amp sit on some tiles in-between my speaker that I put on top of my carpet for thermal reasons. Just saving up and working with what I have since i'm still in full time education :). I hope to be able to replace my Sonus Faber's with a pair of Focal solo6 Be's soon, despite being studio speakers they are very engaging and nice to listen to and will eliminate my amp from the chain for now as my amp doesn't take bananas so I have employed a crude method of connecting my banana speaker cable to it which is rather unsafe and I'd rather just not do it.
