  1. JOLIDA GLASS FX Valve DAC upgraded with Siemens E83CC Valves Item Location : Manchester £350 ONO - Purchased two years ago from the UK Distributor. - In excellent condition and full working order. - Valves have been upgraded to a matched pair of Siemens E83CC's (Made in Germany, worth well over £100) - Valves have been test on Avo 160 valve tester and they measure good so there's many more years left in them. - USB/COAX/TOSLINK OPT (inputs) PHONO (outputs) - Includes USB Lead, Original Box and Manual. - Awesome DAC with an excellent reputation and many reviews online.
  2. Black Ice Audio (Jolida) F159 end game MM/ MC phonostage upgraded - relisted De-tweaked a little to drop the price so re-listing. Please ignore my other listing. A rare in the U.K. piece (230v). An interesting story on these. Jolida is now called Black Ice Audio who have joined up with Jim Fosgate (audio royalty - look him up). F159 as Jim built 159 prototypes. The F159 includes the Foz XT-R cross talk eliminator which makes a huge difference. There are reviews of both the stand alone X-TR and F159 online. This unit is very far from stock - see list of upgrades (no value changes, just better component quality): Power supply: IEC is now a Furutech gold Fuse is a Wilbrand Acoustics All power supply capacitors ((combo of Audio Note (both types) and Elna)) Soundcoat dampening applied to the chassis as a whole Voltage regulator now a New Class D Chips for Foz control coated with Audio Magic Black Out Paint Input: Upgraded gold over copper RCA (and the output) Loading resisters now Vishay Naked Z-Foils (massive upgrade for any phonostage) Solid silver ptfe wrapped wire (and the output) Signal board: High voltage caps now Mundorf and JJ All coupling and output caps now Mundorf ZN Mega tube upgrade to NOS Pearl Cryo GE 5670 with gold pin adaptors. Both tubes measured and rated to Low Noise Grade. These tubes were $90 impeach in 2014. I have just dropped these in as NOS - they are not used. Both are GE, one being a triple meca and the other a shield getter, both from the 1960’s. Ultra rare! Some info off the web: Jim has used an upgrade to the classic Cascode circuit design and added a MOSFET to give the musical performance of tubes with the speed and detail of current solid state designs. Unlike most tube equipment it can product a perfect square wave. Another major feature of the phono stage is the inclusion of the XT-R circuit or Cross Talk Reduction circuit. To obtain high performance from a modern phonograph system, the tonearm and pickup cartridge must be properly adjusted to within a few thousands of an inch to minimize the effect of axial tilt. Axial tilt is when the cartridge needle of the turntable is not perpendicular to the record groove. In addition, a low dB channel separation of the cartridge can result in crosstalk. Crosstalk is simply the stereo signal from the left side leaking into the right side, and the stereo signal from the right side leaking into the left side. Jim Fosgate, has designed an elegant electronic circuit to compensate for crosstalk and axial tilt. The XT-R represents a breakthrough since axial tilt and crosstalk is not mitigated thru the traditional method of physical adjustment, the compensation of the XT-R is electronic. The XT-R incorporates signal cancellation to reduce inter channel crosstalk. This is the same technique that is used in high separation surround processors. The XT-R corrects for a misaligned stylus or cantilever, misaligned generator, misaligned tone arm azimuth (axial tilt). It also reduces crosstalk from cross coupling of the generator coils or tone arm wiring. This circuit works with moving magnet, moving iron, and moving coil cartridges. The XT-R will compensate for up to 7 degrees of axial tilt and can improve channel separation to a maximum of 48 dB. The result will be an improvement in stereo imaging and clarity without any sacrifice in smoothness. Basic Specifications: 1- Gain @ 1KHZ in low gain position 40DB with 47K input. 2- Gain @ 1KHZ in high gain position 60DB with 47K input. 3- Noise floor in high gain position approx -70 DB with input load set to 10 ohms, noise floor will be lower with gain set in low position. 4- Frequency response with RIAA EQ is Plus/Minus 1/4 DB from 250 HZ to 20KHZ, + 3DB at 20 HZ (Bass Boost) 5- Distortion .05% @ 1 KHZ 1V RMS out. 6- Plate voltages APPROX 90V on input stage, 70V on second stage. 7- The calibrate meters work the same way as the XTR. 8- Rear panel Adjustable loading Once the phonostage is warmed for a few mins and then the Foz XTR is dialled in (only need be done once), this pre sound epic!! These retail for $1500 in the US (excl post and VAT) with mout any stellar upgrades. £960 incl UK post I’m also incl the set up disc, these retail for £50.

Both tubes have been treated with Audio Magic Black Out Paint and both tubes have a Herbies tube dampener Grounding: Inside the chassis is an Akiko Audio Phono Booster link to the ground post with an Entreq Infinity Cuppa lead. If you are using other grounding boxes like Entreq then the Akiko will need be removed. I went with the Akiko as it works well and fits in the chassis rather than out. I do prefer an Entreq though. But for space and convenience ... https://www.akikoaudio.com/en/akiko-audio/akiko-audio-audio-accessories/549-akiko-audio-phono-booster Once the phonostage is warmed for a few mins and then the Foz XTR is dialled in (only need be done once), this pre sound epic!! These retail for $1500 in the US (excl post and VAT) and the Akiko costs 350 Euro. Add all the mega upgrades, tubes etc and the asking price is a steal vs the performance. £1250 incl UK post
  4. Jolida JD-5T valve preamp - low gain 10dB & upgraded Only owned for a few weeks. I bought it as an experiment for pre/power combo vs my integrated. I bought it new as Jolida have liquidated their stocks for their new Black Ice Audio kit fully coming to market. So this could one of the last times you could get your hands on one. So I’m keeping the integrated. As this unit is a few weeks old it looks like new as a result and is still burning in. It is not standard by a long way - upgrades listed below. As such it does sound lovely and is a bargain. Runs two 12AX7 tubes 10dB gain Remote volume control 2 sets of RCA outputs Frequency response 10Hz-70Hz Slim profile Upgrades: • I bought some gold knobs for a different look but the originals will be included (and attached when shipped). Photos of both below. • IEC is now a Furutech Gold type with a Synergistic Research SR20 fuse. • Tubes are now Raytheon CK5755 with adaptors. Original new issue TungSol 12AX7 tunes will also be supplied but the Raytheon’s are MILES better. • Output capacitors now Modwright film in oil types. • Sound Coat chassis dampening. • Power supply jumper removed and soldered instead (for the U.K./US mains conversion). • All electrolytic capacitors removed and upgraded to Mundorf, Nichicon and Audio Note and a key cap bypassed with a film cap. Sounds ace and looks good too. £395 incl UK post.
  5. Black Ice Audio ( Jolida ) F360 Vacuum Tube Preamplifier Valve With SSX - Rare in the UK! Listed at £750 under list price. U.K. 230v version. Condition is brand new, still sealed in the original box. A very special tube preamplifier designed by Jim Fosgate with tone and dimension controls - has the SSX Sound Expander built in. Plus rear rca outputs. Remote volume control. When the EQ is switched to bypass, this preamp creates a perfect square wave (and uses no negative feedback). Jim Fosgate uses an upgrade to the classic Cascode circuit design and adds a mosfet which gives the musical performance of tubes but with the speed and detail of current solid state designs. So the design is a HYBRID - valve and solid state mix to fix issues of buffering the signal, controlling high and low frequencies, focusing or expanding a 3D image and rear outputs for the option of creating an analog surround system (or a false ambience to expand what can be perceived as the actual location of the recording) The 360 offers both XLR and RCA inputs and outputs as well as outputs for a mono or stereo subwoofer. It also has a full tape loop for external components or a legacy tape deck. And for those who want to go even further there is a set of outputs for rear stereo speakers (volume setting can be set and then controlled via the main volume pot). Gain is 10dB Max output voltage: 13V RMS front channels, 8.5V RMS back and sub channels. £1250
  6. Jolida Glass FX Valve Dac Mk3 + headphone jack. Very modded This is a mate’s of mine, he does not appear on any forums. Makes me look like I got too many dacs! The Black Ice Audio version for sale in my dac, and the good news (if you read that thread) is it’s WiFi does work!! Just hold the reset for 10 secs, wait 30 secs and it stops looking for the prior WiFi link. I’ll update that thread soon. So back to this Dac. It has no WiFi, it is the Mk3. Mate originally bought it from me (when I dealt Jolida) and he wanted it revved up big time - so it is. He wants £450 firm excl postage. A fair price as he really looks after his kit and this dac looks new. He does not use his kit much so it has had light use. Original spec here: https://www.jolida.com/product/glass-fx-tube-dac-iii Upgrades: • Furutech IEC with HiFi-Tuning Classic Gold fuse • Power supply rebuilt with better components - Audyn, Nichicon and Panasonic • Output caps are Modwright film in oil types (best that fit this application) • Tubes - Raytheon CK5755 (yellow print) with adaptors • Feet now EAR Small compliant types • A touch of chassis dampening • Silver solid core output wire onto Audio Note silver plated RCA jacks (these need a buff/clean) Original box etc. I’m away for a week so could only post 21st May.
  7. Jolida’s new dac - Black Ice DSD with mega mods Selling as I need a dac with a remote control for my TV system. Jolida have changed their name due to the collaboration with Jim Fosgate to Black Ice Audio (I know!). Their new Jolida Glass DAC in 384/32 DSD form has had a few mods over the popular Mk3 with a revised dac board (Jim’s design) and a new layout to the power supply board. Has the same headphone output that also controls the RCA output. These retail at $800 excl freight, VAT duty etc. This one for sale has the following upgrades and sings! • Gold Furutech IEC mains connector •Updated fuse (either a HiFi Tuning or Synergistic Research, can’t remember) •DC filter cap on mains board now a Modwright film in oil cap •Some power supply caps upgraded to Jensen, Audio Mote Keisei, 2x Blackgate for the low voltage feed •Key cap on dac board now an Audio Note Keisei (board is designed by Jim Fosgate) •5v regulator for dac board now New ClassD type •Silver output wired onto Audio Note silver plated RCA’s •Output tubes the Raytheon CK5755 Reliability Controlled types •Some chassis dampening •Output caps now Modwright film in Oil •Herbies tube dampers •Spiked on Ebony feet, brass tipped So about £380 worth of upgrades excl labour. I can’t get the WIFI of the dac to work. Supposed to be able to stream to it over the internet from an Apple device. Downloaded the WiFi receiver driver (an Apple app). But I can’t get it to link. Think it a USA only thing. Someone WiFi savvy may sort it but best to mention I cannot get it to work (Jolida replaced the Bluetooth version with a WiFi feature). Sounds ace reckon still burning in though as keeps improving. Maybe 300 hours on it. Would not sell it but really want a remote control dac. Selling for £600 incl U.K. post. Original box and manual but no UK power cable (does not fit in the box). More photos to follow.
  8. Jolida FX Tube DAC DSD Tube DAC/Preamp with headphone amp New, only opened for these photos. Very well regarded and known dac - likely the only or one of the only DSD versions in the U.K. Can be used as a preamp directly into a power amp for digital only systems or just a quality tube DAC with headphone amp. (Does not use a remote control function). Comes with the stock TungSol 12AX7 tubes. The boxes there are shipped in a small so a UK pluck/cable does not fit. So one only has to add a UK mains cable to get set up. A USA cable is included in the box. 14. Hi all For sale is my Jolida DAC bought on here a while ago (I think it was earlier this year or end of last year). This is one of the upgraded versions with the Modwright caps, silver wiring (I believe) et al, and it sounds fantastic. The sonic merits of this little DAC has been discussed in great detail already. And it has a headphone out as well which is a nice little added bonus Reason for selling is because I have recently acquired an AN DAC. £350 firm + postage which is less than what it owes me. Collection is preferred as I have recently had a bad experience with a courier service, but happy to post at the buyer's own risk PS. I have all the original packaging Pictures to follow Regards Chivas 0
