While on holiday in Northern Portugal a week ago, we heard about a performance of Stravinsky’s The Solidier’s Tale being held in a small village close to the Spanish border. It was a small ensemble, each instrumentalist played a solo piece in different location in the village before the main work was performed in a courtyard.
Even as a semi-regular concert goer prior to lockdown, I’d honestly forgotten just what a joy it is to hear live music. It’s a wonderful piece too.
Audience all socially distanced and wearing masks, outdoor venue, in case you’re wondering.
