I have worked with hi-fi and am a die hard audiophile. I have kept this flagship CD Player in perfect condition and have treated it incredibly carefully from the day I bought it (from new).I will be very sad to see this CD Player go as I have always been very impressed with how versatile, precise and detailed the sound produced is. I am only selling due to moving abroad. This 840C has been my favourite piece of audio equipment I have ever owned, but needs must, and I will miss it dearly.This CD player received many 5* reviews for its incredible high end detail. The build in up-sampler reads the standard 16 bit/44.1kHz CD data and produces a 24bit/384kHz output, effectively reducing 'digital' sounding reproduction. In real terms, this adds a level of detail like no other cd player I have ever heard: you can hear plectrums touching strings, fingers making contact with drums, the texture of an instrument being played. It brings to life any ordinary recording as though you were hearing it in person. This mechanism also has a huge impact on the stereo stage, as you can hear each musician separately in the panning, rather than as one sound.
