Answered Esoteric UK Service/Repair Centre?

Morning Everyone,

I am now looking for somewhere to get my Esoteric DV-50s SACD Player serviced and repaired in the UK does anyone know somewhere maybe even in Europe.

I have contacted the company who do this for Esoteric USA which is 'TAP Electronics' about where I can send/take it as they are in California so not really a viable option.

It's ironic that I should buy & collect a Marantz 85 CD player from Tackleberry yesterday for my son which is a real doozy.
I took my Esoteric out of the rack for the first time in about 3 years so I could test the Marantz 85 and it sounds superb so played a few cd's then took it back out to put my Esoteric back in & now it is skipping all over the place even whole tracks backwards and forwards.

I've cleaned it several times with my disc cleaner to no avail so I have now put my spare CD player in which is my Marantz Ki Pearl SACD player and balance is restored.

I am in no hurry to sort the Esoteric as the Pearl sounds superb too but I don't want the Esoteric to turn into a 20kg ornament or door stop

I haven't used him for a while but he did a sequence of superb work for me, including servicing and repairing some high-end stuff. Last time I spoke to him, around lockdown, he was exceptionally busy, but he may well not be quite so snowed under now.

Thanks for the heads up Steve I've got it booked in at Wilkinsons HiFi atm but I am getting a few other options on here so it will be good to refer back too

Steve Tony will be at Cranage if you are going and I am dropping off a Mutec with him for upgrades . Worth calling in to the Coherence room and have a chat really nice man and has more technical knowledge than most . I would also confirm that those suggestions and work he has given to me all worked and results in better sound .

I took my Esoteric sacd player in for repair on Monday the place is like an Aladdins cave for HiFi nuts like all of us

I met Stuart one of the brothers who own Wilkinsons and he's a real enthusiast as is Hilton who runs the shop front. It's going to be about 4 weeks depending if parts are needed so I must be patient

I had a laser mech failure in my old Esoteric SACD Player and it had to go back to Japan to be fixed, it cost me 1500!

Nobody would touch it in the UK as Teac would not send spares out, obviously that has changed now.

P.S I thought you had a Esoteric K-03?

I'll see how the guys at Wilkinsons they do seem pretty confident to do a fix. I don't think it's worth spending that kind of money on it but it's a wait & see situation

I had this prior to the K-03 which I've only had 3 weeks. The DV50 I have had over 3 years but hoping to get it fixed then keep it as a spare or sell on not sure yet.

Never hurts to give them a call. A lot of places are short staffed at the moment due to holidays etc.
