How to build an itunes to Hard Drive storage system

I've had 2 go too, replaced under warranty but worrying :( Synology Nas 411 with hot spare coped as enough of a gap between fails but I have decided not to ditch usb back up drives (clone iTunes monthly to one and photo library to the other)

I have it Etherneted to an oppo and onwards to dac in main system and to airport express/dac in subsidiary
Mileages vary though. In fifteen years, I've never had a WD drive go wrong. I do tend to use either RAID or enterprise drives though. The only drive that I've ever had fail was a Fujitsu around a decade ago.

Some people get a lot of problems. I wonder what the variable is - whether it's something like using cheap power supplies or whether it's bad luck or as in your case, batch issues. I generally build my own so I use large cases which means that cooling is easier too.
