Looking at my setup, I'd need about 800, not a pack of eight. However, I'm very much liking the Mars bar idea frankly.

I hesitate to call it a load of bovine excrement, however, I struggle somewhat with the idea that sticking a lump of plastic under your speaker cables is going to have a major effect on RF interference. I suspect the fact that 'R' stands for 'radio' may offer some clues as to why a carpet doesn't make much odds here. The blurb is sheer rubbish. Any comparison with static electricity indicates either a woeful lack of understanding, or a deliberate act of misapplied science.

Either way, my Barclaycard is safe from that particular lack of temptation. I can think of plenty of hi-fi related things I could spend £129 on, but eight bits of bent plastic aren't in the running.

I’m afraid. I would never use cable lifters for one simple reason that the manufacturers conveniently omit to tell you.

Quite simply, they lift the cable up and put it closer to mobile phone signals, this increasing the amount of RF noise they pick up which definitely ruins the sound.

That’s a fact that is.

Ah, but you need to read the marketing rubbish facts. RF is apparently amplified by the floor. Or the dishwasher or something. Frankly, after the first sentence, I started to get unreasonably cross, so I sort of gave up.

Yep - all a bit too reminiscent of the classic Arthur Dent quote - "Well it’s something called the Infinite Improbability Drive - don’t ask me how it works or I’ll start to whimper."

At some stage in the design and production, someone must have asked, 'wtf are we making again?'

An interesting product, but not as interesting as this "you might also be interested in" product:

https://www.futureshop.co.uk/entreq-everest-enhanced-ground-post

Analyse the "science" behind those claims!!
Through a combination of lifestyle and diet, I've managed to get my blood pressure down notably over the last year. That sort of thing is a good way to get it up again. It took me about three goes to actually figure out what it was. As to what it's supposed to do, apparently it improves something that can't work in the first place, and achieves this through a mechanism that seems totally new to science. I appreciate that the ink dried on my doctorate many years ago, but whilst I do try to stay in touch with developments in physics, I must have missed something here.

The kitchen sponge cable lifter ?

Seriously though, they are very handy at separating mains & RCA cable arrangements.....for 10p only ?  A true pocket money punt.

* One sponge makes up to 6 cable separators.   🙄

Another advantage of being active, no need for such things and why not use egg boxes which are free?

We do them in Sunfire yellow, Virgin white, Green mist & Posy pink already. Since I did the last post supplies have dwindled & unfortunately reflected in the new cost of @ hifiSpunJ.

But you’ve only lifted one cable! What good can that possibly do?

Are you daft or something?
