I am led to believe some Audionote pre amps (and phono stages?) use the 6072a. Can anyone confirm this? I would be especially interested if you posess one such pre.

Anyone using the 6072a in another brand of pre?

Yes, Audio Note Kondo used them (12AY7) in some variants of the M7 and M77. I have a 'clone' of such a circuit which is electrically closer to the M77 I believe, it uses two 12AY7 per channel but as we all know implementation is everything so I'm not suggesting it sounds anywhere near as good as an original. Irrespective, it sounds fine and has bags of drive.

Some of the AN pres also use 6072 in the phono stage and 12AX7 in the line stage. M7 and M77 have used a whole raft of different valves over the years, but AFAIK, mostly 5687, 6072 and 6922 for line stage.
