Sure others will have done this, but once forgot to put the puck on after loading CD. Sounded like i'd put it into a blender. Switched off and retrieved CD, luckily no damage done to it or, more importantly, the player.
Keep thinking should put a big warning label on player, "PUCK" due to my advancing years.

Nah because the high impedance of the MM input rendered the line in signal to a near nothing - hopefully I've not popped it then!

Incredibly unlikely to have damaged anything old pal.

As long as you don't plumb high voltage or high current into it, you can overload pretty much any preamp/phono input to a major extent without hurting anything.
