CD player for £750 ish

Was after some recomendations to check out at this price level, new or 2nd hand, first thought was 508.24 but thought I'd ask for others to look/listen out for.

Other bits are up in the air at present, but it will either be used with a s/s amp and neat mystique 2's or in future system of valve+sensitive speaker setup, music is mainly rock/indie (classic and modern)

what are Linn spinners like? £750 is the absolute max BTW, none of this "just another £100 will get you........." malarky

I think the current CD5i is about £850 new but worth haggling for a discount. But a 2nd hand Nait 5 would be = good and would probably come in under your £750.

I'm sure The Strat is talking about the cd5i.

I've owned both the cd5i and Apollo. Prefer the less expensive Apollo which, imo, has better resolution and refinement. The Naim has subjectively better bass. Build is certainly better too.

Still, buying 2nd hand. £750. Original Naim CDX? Can they be had for that kinda money now? The Densen sounds like a good choice, given Matt's taste in music...
