Headshells that have azimuth adjustment?

Playing with my Technics 1200 mk5 and really enjoying the sound with a 2M Black.  This setup sounds lovely on my system but I can see that the azimuth is slightly out so wonder if there are any headshells that allow easy azimuth adjustment?  I plan to upgrade to a G or GR (depending on budget and building work) so it would be used on that later on.

Thanks :)

Mike

Azimuth adjustment is usually done with the tonearm, but I suppose you could put shims on the cartridge fixing as well.

It would be a lot less faff if it can be done on the headshell - I had thought of a shim but something that can be easily tweaked would be ideal.

The vintage audio technica headshells are great for this. The following models allow precise adjustment for overhang and azimuth, ms8, ms9, ms10 and ls12

Surely azimuth is adjustable at the headshell mounting... well, not always it would seem... But then I've only ever had a Micro Seiki deck.

I always wondered why they made those headshells!

I need to get out more..!

I was going to suggest a Sumiko but they aren't available at the moment.

AT and Ortofon have adjustable h/shells, but be aware they are a fair bit heavier than the Technics. You'll probably need extra weight at the other end(technical description).

It’s years since I used a removable head shell, but my recollection is that there was enough slack to tighten it while firmly holding the shell one way or the other.  And there’s always scope for a washer or paper shim if necessary.  I used to have a small mirror to stand the stylus on, when lowered, as otherwise the offset creates an optical illusion, if I’m remembering correctly

Of course, the visible alignment, though reassuring, isn’t as vital as aligning it with test discs and instruments if you’re really concerned, as I believe most cartridges are far from perfection in terms of internal alignment.  ‘Generator asymmetry‘ is what I believe it’s called.  The few tests that still appear on cartridges often reveal channel imbalance of two or three dB across some frequencies.

Sumiko shells were made by Jelco who have ceased making tone arms so I imagine new stock of both these models have dried up.

Audio Technica make headshells with adustability (swivel from side to side and back and forth ) by loosening and allen bolt on the side .. here is a pic of one
