I'm with Duvet, I like both bands. Physical Grafitti and Love Over Gold are two of my most favourite abums ever. Bar none.

I wouldn't go so far as letting those Zep boys shag me though. I'd besaving myself for Lemmy!

I've had my weekly dose of music drop through the door today, 1/2 is personal. the 1/2 is purely for demo's.

Brothers in Arms on SACD MY god how grim is that

, even Jazz at the pornshop sounds better :sw: and I do admit to playing BIA once in a blue moon, the sacd version:fluch:how do audiophiles live with themselves

They are about to release another version of 'Brothers In Arms' on vinyl. Four single sided 200g -45rpm edition for the first time. Will it ever stop? Haha, for what its worth I think its quite a nice album.

Led Zep, don't mind their music at all, enjoyed reading about them much, much more though. They did put the 'rock' into rock and roll.

If we all liked the same music the world would be a dull place and this thread would be dead.

I'm with CF and Duvet on those 2 albums although Zep 2 is my favourite.

As far as Lemmy is concerned as liberally minded as I am I can't imagine doing that that Stuart!

I bought BIA and On Every Street on eBay after reading frank wax lyrical about them. Dire Straits aren't as good as they seemed when I was a kiddywinkle. There is about 3 songs between them that I enjoy. Don't detest them though.

Led Zep...well if you're in the mood its great. Otherwise its a lot of screaming and noise. Heavy metal and MOR soft rock, poles apart.

If you like old-style Dire Straits I'd get Alchemy Live, that'll nail it. On Every Street has a few good tracks but it's not a patch on the old stuff IMO.

Leeds UK, ,
Houses of the holy, III, IV and GRaffiti are slightly more refined.

If you want to know how Led Zep can ROCK, listen to I or II...

Nothing like 'Good times, Bad times' to start your listening session!!

I don't know who I'm with because I've read all this and now can't remember who said what, but... Zepplin (Like Cream, The Who etc) were a genuine supergroup who could play and did it best live, IMO always a sign of a great band. Dire straits are way too processed for me, but have made some good studio tracks ...can you imaging how boring 'private investigations' would be live? Floyd were fantastic live too and so on and so on.Now is it lunch time?

Actually I think Led Zep somewhat let themselves down live - the violin bow on Dazed and Confused, Moby Dick 20 mins, Whole Lotta Love - over the top. Mind you £2.50 to see them at Earls Court in 1975!

The Who the greatest live band ever imho. Dire Straits very good live (also imo).
