That's all that counts John and like I said if it didn't get my juices flowing yet you are delighted with it for the price you paid then I have no beef at all with that

As a secondhand buy it's a belter for £800 but at £2k it'sup against serious competition and not particularly good value considering it sounded not one jot better than the A3cr I had before it, which in turn isn't any better than the X series
Original RRP was 1.5K. Have seen suchcomparisonbetween A3 (or A3.2) and 308 before but also otherwise.Or, 'I kept the 308 pre but sold the 308 power' and vice versa. MF apparently needs 59 x better system matchingthan other brands :Not Sure:.

Yeah I know what you mean. These things were £4k a piece when new and you can see them for around £1500 each now.I couldn't keep one in the house due to size (I would love :love:to buy the amp and would probably have the cd player to match).

Back to my x-series

I am still in love with my X-Series, as much as the 1st day, if not more.

No more upgrade funds, I presume?

I am also still enamoured by the sounds from my MF amps. The high MF product line turnover sure leaves a bad taste in the mouth though.:(Even Barbie doll designs don't change that often.

It's not really a funds question there. It's just that I don't need - yet - a more powerful amp.

The X-150 is exactly what I need: Low distortion, good power, half-width design, good looks... that suit my musical taste and my interior.

I don't say I won't upgrade in the coming years. But for that,I need to seriously upgrade our flat. We move soon, but it won't be much bigger. Maybe just enough to accomodate floorstanders.

Wasn't really making fun of you Gaul.

I also find I don't need a really powerful amp. I went on a power trip this year with a X-150/X-P200 biamp combo which frankly, was decibel overkill. A well-designed 30W amp is actually sufficient for my needs imho. Will see what 2006 throws up.

Good luck with your speaker upgrades. I'm sure yours will have a pair of superb woofers.:lwink:

Nah. When HFWW was getting started I just sourced a few for James to get started. Being a member of so many forums, it wasn't that difficult.
