I’ll machine some from 99.99999% pure Bolivian copper - mined exclusively by cryogenically treated midgets - if you want AK?

ok only if you can supply some petrified wizard wood to use as cable lifters, wouldn't want to hear the sound of my carpet, also don't want cable to topple speakers over

At the rate you're pricking me over the R270 I'd better exile myself from here for a while. My wallet's health is in danger.

Now don't take-on so, just trying to save you money in the long-run - you already know you're going to buy them, it's just a matter of when.

And who needs food? - there's some good stuff to be found in supermarket bins...

Don't know if it helps but i have the R270's as the fronts on my AV system in silver - beautiful design and great speakers - R90's are neat little speakers but the R270's I would say are as good as a £300 stand mount - IMHO:)

gsrai, how could you characterize the overall sound from the R270s? Do they suffer from any pinched nasality when reproducing booming male voices? I'd imagine their slim profiles may have a limiting effect on such sounds. What about vibrations when the music has deep basslines? Negligible? Do the varnished veneers hold up well? (i.e. not crack or wrinkle) after months' of use with thumping bass music? (I had this problem with my Epi Ms.

R270s...this is getting dangerous.

Some dificult questions there as I use them with my Arcam AVR250 for home cinema.

In that rig the voices are clear and bass is good considering theire size. The veneer is a nice finish and has withstood my kids dropping them once or twice :Upset:

When I demo'd in store I tested with an Arcam Solo and I was amazed by the soundstage and clarity from such well designed boxes. You do pay a premium for the design but I would happily buy them against a £2-300 bookshelf.

I think that with the R90's you must have a sub - they are good but I wouldn't want them as my only speaker unless I was using them in a stylestudio.

Go with the R270's - you wont regret it! Pity you cant get ex dem as the go for around £250 on eBay and sometimes Sevenoaks sell ex dems for around £350.

Hope that helps!

Earl have you written to Mf to ask why there is no tuner In the current X series. A stupid omission IMHO. :Upset:

I don't think MF will ever add that Xplora. Seems like they have already abandoned the X ship. The A3.5s are the current flavor of the month.

Mark my words, in three months' time, Earl's stack of shoeboxes will be just as dinosauric as his workplace.:lmao:

Gotta try my hand at cartoon sketching. Depicting Earl sitting in his small crypt of a room staring religiously at his high pile of shoeboxes..... a riot!:raoflmfao:

No Duvet, I never did, but DaveWhit did, and was told there wasinsufficient demand - given the scarcity of the previous generation X-Plora, they may have had a point... 'Specially since theyscrapped the "large" X-series components soon after - even though some had been out less than a year...

That's why I use the little TEAC TH-300 MKII unit - has both FM, DAB and AM/MW, nice silver aluminum front panel, and same dimensions as the X-kit... Sounds OK, too - as good as Denon TU260L-II on FM, and better than Cambridge Azur 640T on DAB.

TBH it's worked in my favour all-along, the only new bit of kit I bought was the X-150 and I got nearly £200 off that, most of the rest has been purchased between two-thirds and half retail, nearly new or ex-dem. I still love both the way it looks and the way it sounds, it takes up less space and is far better built than the A3.5 series.

Every time I re-enter the "crypt" I get a little jolt of pleasure just looking at this stuff, listening is a bigger, longer high, and I have a good cheap upgrade path - most recently added an X-PSUv3 for £160 - never believed it would make a sod of a difference, but had to try and collect the full set...
icon_redface.gif.eb51a1f92a0314cdfc14dd3cb4473da1.gif
Anyway, anyone who's tried the X-10v3 has not heard what it can do until you put it on the end of this box of tricks - surprised me...
shock.gif.7732780fe7e208b945ce79ca96402fca.gif
So there's a few more cheap silver shoeboxes to try before the whole lot get auctioned off and replaced with godnosewot...

First though, I've a new Crypt to buy...

What fun!

Looking at Earl's glossy brochure of his domicile I am reminded of that AQUA song:

"Life in plastic,

it's fantastic!"

re: those storage boxes;)The tragic juxtaposition of expensive X components sharing space with $2 plastic boxes --- there's a bit ofDavid Lynch's cine pathos here.:raoflmfao:

I'll have you know that the window in Place Of Domicile stays open 24/7/52; my Neutradol air freshner is regularly replaced, and my linen washed weekly!

Impudent whelp!
